SAFE EXIT WARNING (SEW)*

While your vehicle is stopped, and if Safe Exit Warning detects a vehicle approaching the rear corner of your vehicle and a passenger opens a door, SEW can warn the driver with a warning message, a blinking warning light on the side view mirror, and a warning sound to help avoid a collision.

SEW Settings:

Only adjust settings when the vehicle is at a standstill, gear shift is in Park, the ignition is on, or the Engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position

To enable/disable SEW in User settings in the Instrument Cluster -

  1. Press the Mode button on the Steering Wheel to toggle to User Settings
  2. Press the OK button up/down to toggle to Driver Assistance, Driving Safety, then Safe Exit.

To enable/disable SEW in Vehicle settings in the Infotainment System –

  1. Press the SETUP key or the onscreen SETUP button
  2. Press VEHICLE to enter Vehicle Settings
  3. Select Driver Assistance, Driving Safety, then Exit Safety.

Quick Tips:

  • To adjust the Warning Volume: Press the SETUP button to go to VEHICLE SETTINGS on the Infotainment System. Press VEHICLE, DRIVER ASSISTANCE, and under WARNING METHODS, you can adjust WARNING VOLUME, and turn DRIVER SAFETY PRIORITY on or off 
  • Adjusting the Warning Volume may adjust volume levels for other driving assist systems

Reminders:

  • SEW may not detect all objects and the occupants should always be mindful of their surroundings 
  • After the engine is turned off, SEW operates for approximately for 3 minutes but turns off immediately if the doors are locked
