Terrain Mode activates the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system to help the vehicle maintain its best driving performance by controlling the wheels, engine, transmission and braking to best suit the road conditions, such as snow, mud or sand. To turn on Terrain Mode, press the TERRAIN MODE button and select SNOW, MUD or SAND mode.

• SNOW mode: SNOW mode ensures safe driving by appropriately distributing the vehicle's traction forces to prevent wheel slippage on snowy or slippery roads
• MUD mode: MUD mode ensures safe driving by appropriately  distributing the vehicle's traction forces on muddy, unpaved or rough roads
• SAND mode: SAND mode ensures safe driving by appropriately distributing the vehicle’s traction forces when driving on sandy, graveled or unpaved off-roads 

When TERRAIN mode is deactivated, a vibration may be felt as the traction forces on the front and rear wheels of the vehicle are released. This vibration is not a mechanical failure.
