FORWARD/REVERSE/SIDE PARKING DISTANCE WARNING (PDW)*

While driving at low speed, Forward/Reverse/Side Parking Distance Warning is designed to detect pedestrians or objects and may warn the driver to help avoid a possible collision.

PDW is activated automatically when the EV Power button is on and the gear shift is moved to Reverse.

To disable PDW, press the Parking Safety button (LED illuminated), when vehicle is in Drive or Reverse.

To activate again, press button again (LED not illuminated).

Warning Methods: Press the SETUP button to go to VEHICLE SETTINGS on the Infotainment System. Press VEHICLE, DRIVER ASSISTANCE, and under WARNING METHODS, you can adjust WARNING VOLUME, and turn HAPTIC WARNING and DRIVER SAFETY PRIORITY on or off

Reminders:

  • Adjusting the Warning Methods may adjust timing and volume levels for other driving assistance systems
  • If the vehicle is moving at speeds over 6 mph, Forward/Side Parking Distance Warning may not operate
  • When more than two objects are sensed at the same time, the closest one will be recognized first

When engaged, PDW is not a substitute for proper and safe parking and backing-up procedures. Always drive safely and use caution when backing up. PDW may not detect every object in front of or behind the vehicle.
