BLIND-SPOT COLLISION-AVOIDANCE ASSIST (BCA)*

Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist is designed to detect approaching vehicles in the driver’s blind spots and warn the driver of a possible collision with a warning indicator and a warning sound. If it detects that there is a collision risk when exiting a parallel parking space, BCA may assist with braking the vehicle to help avoid a collision.

Vehicle Detection:

When another vehicle is detected within collision warning boundary , an indicator will illuminate on the outside rearview mirrors .

Collision Warning:

When the vehicle detection warning is on and the driver activates a turn signal, a flashing indicator will illuminate on the outside rearview mirrors and the system will sound a warning.

Collision-Avoidance Assist (while departing):

When you are driving forward out of a parking space, if BCA determines that there’s a collision risk with an approaching vehicle in the blind spot, it can help avoid collision by applying the brake. Your vehicle needs to be traveling slower than 2 mph and the approaching vehicle is traveling faster than 3 mph.

BCA Settings:

Quick Tips:

  • When activating BCA or restarting the vehicle with BCA enabled, the warning light on the side mirrors will appear for approximately 3 seconds. When the vehicle is restarted with BCA disabled, the warning message will appear on the cluster
  • BCA will activate when:
    - The system is turned on
    - Other vehicles are detected on the rear sides of the vehicle at speeds above 6mph
    - Vehicle speed is above approximately 12 mph

Reminders:

  • If the turn signal is operated to make a left turn in an intersection, BCA may warn the driver regardless of the driver’s intention
  • BCA will not issue a warning if the approaching vehicle’s speed is calculated to be under 6 mph
  • When BCA is ON and the ignition is cycled, BCA returns to its previous state
  • Adjusting the Warning Methods or Volume will adjust settings for other driver assistance systems
